Etrovision - Video encoders and decoders – Analog to Digital to Analog | 21/09/2011
Video encoders provide a solution for migrating analog installations to network video. In other words, by installing video encoders, users gain the benefits of network video while protecting their existing analog investment.
Video decoders convert H.264, MPEG-4 and JPEG video streams into the PAL analog format and provide another way of protecting existing analog investments, for instance analog switchers, DVRs or large screen monitors.
Video encoders and decoders can also be used in an analog to digital to analog configuration, for instance for transporting video over long distances. Digital image quality is maintained regardless of the distance.
This type of configuration could apply where the images of analog video cameras from a site under surveillance would need to be transmitted to another, separate, distant building where the images would be recorded on analog recording devices or monitored on analog wide screens.
While there is a wide choice of suitable products, Etrovision EV3151 encoders and EV5131 decoders would provide a cost-effective solution, using only 16MB bandwidth at most for a 4 camera application.
